Two-Start Pitchers

These are the pitchers lined up for two starts and their roster rates:

Two-Start Pitcher Notes

  • Dylan Cease has been outstanding all year and will be looking to add to his Cy Young resume. Through 25 starts, he’s got a 2.33 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 13.0 K/9 and a career-best 25.3% strikeout-minus-walk rate. His two-start week comes against the Athletics (15th) and Orioles (fifth), who are in the bottom half of the league in strikeout rate in August.
  • Jesus Luzardo is in the midst of his best season to date — 3.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 11.2 K/9 through 27 starts. He faces the Braves twice in his double start, which is a daunting task. Atlanta has the ninth-best wOBA in the second half and is one of the best teams in the league against left-handed pitching.
  • Luis Castillo turned back the clock for one start, but has otherwise been disappointing with his new team. He’s allowed 16 earned runs in 22.1 innings with 20 strikeouts and six walks. He gets two pretty good matchups against the Pirates and Cardinals; both are among the seven worst teams in wOBA in the second half. However, Castillo has completed five innings just once with the White Sox and can’t be trusted.
