ASU football moves up in AP Top 25 poll after win over BYU

Arizona State football jumped to No. 14 in The Associated Press’ Top 25 Poll following its 28-23 win versus BYU on Saturday.

The Sun Devils also earned a place in this week’s Coaches Poll, landing at No. 15.

Last week, ASU appeared at No. 21, the first time the program had been ranked since Week 7 in 2021, and the first time the program had appeared in the Top 25 under head coach Kenny Dillingham.

The Sun Devils (9-2, 6-2) will travel to Tucson to take on the Arizona Wildcats (4-7, 2-6) in the Territorial Cup, marking the final regular season game for both teams. The Wildcats are coming off a 49-28 loss at TCU on Saturday, which eliminated them from bowl contention.

A win on Saturday for the Sun Devils would clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game on Dec. 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The conference had four teams ranked in the poll between No. 14 ASU, No. 17 Iowa State, No. 19 BYU and No. 23 Colorado.

Oregon remained the No. 1 team in the poll for the sixth straight week, while Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Notre Dame rounded out the top five.
