‘Rabbit fuel:’ Dadrion Taylor-Demerson’s pregame meal might make your stomach turn

TEMPE — When you think “rabbit food,” the first thing that comes to mind is likely something green and coming out of the ground.

When it comes to Arizona Cardinals safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson — better known as Rabbit — the only thing green about his very odd pregame meal is the drink.

“I gotta have spaghetti with ranch on it, a little parmesan, red pepper flakes and some green Gatorade,” he said Friday after Arizona’s Week 10 game against New York.

Eating spaghetti hours before games is a solid move. Nothing like a little carb-loading to get the energy levels up on game day.

And who doesn’t like some red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese to bring some added flavor to the dish?

But the ranch component is something we would rather avoid than welcome.

But to each their own.

The origin of Dadrion Taylor-Demerson’s Rabbit fuel

To find out when the rookie’s tradition began would mean taking a trip back in time to his Carl Albert High School days in Oklahoma.

“We used to have pregame meals and we always had pasta or lasagna. The church family would cook for us. I kept it a tradition,” he said. “I got to college, they had spaghetti. And we got spaghetti before the games, so it’s just a part of my routine.

“I go in, do my little spaghetti two hours, three hours before the game and that’s all I need to do what I do. It’s like Rabbit fuel.”

Maybe the safety is onto something. After all, he is an NFL athlete.

So, if you end up trying it, let me know!
