The Phoenix Mercury roster was trimmed to 12 active players Thursday as the team readies for its season opener Saturday.

Phoenix released forward Temira Poindexter and guards Megan McConnell and Celeste Taylor, the team said in a release.

The Mercury additionally partially suspended the contract of Murjanatu Musa until she reports to the team. She is currently playing for France’s Tarbes Gespe Bigorre in the Ligue FĂ©minine de Basketball.
