Noah Fifita says he is returning to Arizona for 2026 season

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita said he is returning for his senior year in 2026 following the Wildcats’ 24-19 loss to the SMU Mustangs in the Holiday Bowl on Friday.

“We got unfinished business and I’m coming back,” Fifita said postgame.

Fifita threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns against the Mustangs, while adding 73 yards on the ground. He finished his season with 3,228 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions, while adding 216 yards and three scores on the ground.

Despite the loss, Arizona finished with a 9-4 overall record and went 6-3 in Big 12 play, improving from its 4-8 overall record in 2024. The Wildcats’ season was highlighted by a five-game winning streak, capped off by a 23-7 win against Arizona State in the Territorial Cup.

Fifita, Brent Brennan reflect on Arizona’s 2025 season

Following the loss, head coach Brent Brennan took pride in the progress the program made in 2025.

“All year this team bought in and lived redline. That started last January when really at a time no one gives us a chance,” Brennan said. “I think it’s worth noting that team 122 here at the University of Arizona is one of eight teams in the history of our program to win nine games. To me, that was incredibly impressive for a team that was picked to finish dead last in the Big 12.”

Despite winning more games, Brennan stressed the importance of building upon it and he is optimistic about the program’s future.

“For this program now, we got work to do and how do we build on this season,” Brennan said. “We’re going dive into the transfer portal, we’re going to attack recruiting and we’re going to attack developing this next group with the great players that we have coming back, the young players that were in the process of developing and the exciting players we’re gonna add in the next month.”

Fifita credited the coaches and players for the atmosphere this season and said he is ready to get back to work.

“I love this team. I’ll be the first guy to say this is the most fun I had playing football and it’s because of the coaches and the players,” Fifita said. “Best believe when we get back in two weeks team 123 is going to get to work to bring home a Big 12 title.”
