Arizona Diamondbacks centerfielder Alek Thomas was placed on the bereavement list ahead of the start of a nine-game road trip.

Jorge Barrosa was called up from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move, the team announced.
Thomas is fifth on the D-backs in games played this year with 90.
He’s slashing .246/.294/.366 on the season.
Barrosa has played in five games in the big leagues this year with three hits, including two doubles.
Thomas will be replaced with Jake McCarthy in the starting lineup on Friday as the D-backs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
First pitch is at 3:40 p.m. and can be listened to on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports App.
