Fantasy Football Injuries to Know for Week 4
Jayden Daniels (QB – WSH) | Elbow
For anyone who saw the elbow injury Jayden Daniels suffered just two weeks ago, the fact that he’s even practicing this week, let alone with a chance to play, is mind-boggling. But it was determined that surgery can wait until the offseason and Daniels could play again this season. It’s unlikely, but keep an eye out for the Commanders’ injury report in London.
Rachaad White (RB – WSH) | Shoulder
The Commanders’ running back situation is not ideal, but Rachaad White was about to take control of it before this shoulder injury. He was the more efficient runner and wasn’t as much of a fumble threat as Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Then he hurt his shoulder in Week 3 and now isn’t practicing. Washington responded by signing veteran Austin Ekeler, which tells you all you need to know about White’s availability this week.
Chris Godwin (WR – TB) | Ankle
Anytime you start the week not practicing, it’s not a good sign. Chris Godwin did get a full practice in later in the week, but it’s not like he’s been off to a good start to the season regardless, totaling just 111 yards on 10 receptions in three games. And even if he does play, he’d be playing with a backup quarterback. Godwin should sit on the bench, in real life and on your fantasy team.
Bucky Irving (RB – TB) | Glute
The injury to Bucky Irving doesn’t appear serious, but missing a whole quarter and then having limited practices during the week makes people wonder. It’d be a shame if Irving can’t go or is limited, as the Buccaneers won’t have Baker Mayfield under center and would need Irving to carry the load
Nico Collins (WR – HOU) | Hamstring
After a multi-week absence due to a hamstring injury, Nico Collins‘ return to practice, even in a limited fashion, is a good sign. It couldn’t come soon enough, as the Texans are 0-3 and in desperate need of an offensive boost.
Tyjae Spears (RB – TEN)/Tony Pollard (RB – TEN) | Ankle
Neither Tyjae Spears nor Tony Pollard practiced this Wednesday, but both made it back by Thursday, Spears in a limited capacity and Pollard at full strength. That would seem to favor Pollard seeing more carries; just don’t expect much from either one on a bad Titans offense.
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL) | Back
This wasn’t an injury anyone expected to see, but it also could have just been a maintenance day. Lamar Jackson missed practice earlier this week with a back injury after seemingly making it through the entire Week 3 win without a scratch, but did return later in the week. He’s good to go.
Zay Flowers (WR – BAL) | Hamstring
In good injury news, Zay Flowers put in a full practice on Thursday, erasing any doubt about the severity of the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 1. The risk of re-injury will be elevated for a while, but not this week. Start with confidence.
DJ Moore (WR – BUF) | Shoulder
DJ Moore is another receiver who, despite the limited practices and pitch counts, appears to be playing through it. He had limited practice last week, yet still saw 10 targets and turned them into six receptions for 67 yards. Expect more of the same this week.
Breece Hall (RB – NYJ) | Quad
The quad injury Breece Hall suffered in Week 3 was severe enough to knock him out of the game and for multiple practices this week, so the prognosis isn’t good for Week 4. It’s a departure for the usually healthy Hall, so don’t expect him to be gone too long.
Adonai Mitchell (WR – NYJ) | Finger
Just when it looked like Adonai Mitchell‘s season was about to take off, he was sidelined with a finger injury late last week, missed Week 3 and missed practice most of this week. It’s a shame, too, seeing how Garrett Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq completely dominated the Lions’ pass defense in Week 3 — Mitchell could have had some of that.
Jakobi Meyers (WR – JAX) | Thumb
Jakobi Meyers has missed parts of practice every week this season, so this week’s designation is nothing new. He’s good to go on a good Jaguars offense, where he’s carved out a role as the No. 2 WR.
Puka Nacua (WR – LAR) | Groin
The biggest injury to start the fantasy season, Puka Nacua appears set to return in Week 4, at least according to head coach Sean McVay. Nacua got in a limited practice this week, but it would still be nice to see more progress before Sunday.
Terrance Ferguson (TE – LAR) | Ankle
An ankle injury last week may have cost Terrance Ferguson his chance to break out this season. It knocked him out for most of Week 3 and practice at the start of this week. Backup tight end Tyler Higbee filled in admirably while Puka Nacua, as noted above, is set to return.
Jaylen Wright (RB – MIA) | Foot
Normally, a third-string running back injury wouldn’t have such big fantasy implications, but life comes at you fast. Thanks to the season-ending injury to De’Von Achane, the starting job in Miami is up for grabs between Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright. Wright had already been dealing with an injury, so it could tip the scales in Gordon’s favor, at least to start.
Justin Jefferson (WR – MIN) | Ankle
Justin Jefferson has a full-blown questionable tag since injuring his ankle last week. He hasn’t practiced at all this week, but the Vikings aren’t ruling him out for Week 4 either, so monitor his practice status late in the week before deciding.
Mike Evans (WR – SF) | Rib
Another veteran receiver with a questionable tag, Mike Evans left Week 3 with a rib injury and wasn’t seen practicing this week. Then again, the 49ers are not shy about giving their veterans rest days, so it’s hard to say how severe the injury is. Watch for the team’s inactive players list on Sunday.
Jalen Coker (WR – CAR) | Quad
Jalen Coker has been dinged up for most of the season, but this injury looks more severe. He didn’t practice on Wednesday but was seen doing individual drills on Thursday, making Friday a very important day for his Week 4 status.
Ladd McConkey (WR – LAC) | Rib/Foot
If it’s not one thing, then it’s another with Ladd McConkey this season, going from a rib injury to now a foot injury. He was limited in practice this week and even more banged up than he was before. It also epitomizes the whole Chargers’ offense this season.
DeVonta Smith (WR – PHI) | Hamstring
DeVonta Smith missed two practices last week but produced six catches for 65 yards in Week 3, so it’s hard to know whether missing two practices in two weeks is just rest or a legitimate injury. Keep an eye on inactives on Sunday.
