Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings & Start/Sit Advice: Week 4

If you ask 100 fantasy football managers who led the league in fantasy kicker points per game in 2025, I would venture to guess at least 80 of them would say Brandon Aubrey or Jason Myers.

Those who pay a little more attention to kickers might answer Ka’imi Fairbairn of the Houston Texans. Those fantasy managers would be correct, but only partially, since another kicker tied Fairbairn in points per game.

That kicker was Spencer Shrader of the Colts, a journeyman who had a cup of coffee with the Chiefs and the Jets before returning to the Colts in 2025 as their starter. In five games with Indianapolis last season, Shrader was a stud for fantasy managers. He made 13 of his 14 kicks and all 14 of his extra points as the Colts jumped out to an impressive undefeated start.

A knee injury against the Raiders ended a promising season, leaving his fantasy managers wondering if he could have competed with Aubrey, Sanders and Fairbairn all season.

We will never know. But it looks like history might be repeating itself.

After a ho-hum Week 1 when the Ravens jumped all over the Colts, Shrader has been a stud, with 21 combined points in his last two games, including a season-high 17 points in a home win over the Texans last week. Shrader overcame an early hamstring injury and was questionable to return, while the punter was warming up on the sideline.

Through three weeks, Shrader is the fantasy K3, ahead of those stud kickers he was chasing last season. Can he avoid injury and keep it up for the rest of the season? If he does, he could be a fantasy-winning asset sitting on the waiver wire in 84% of Yahoo leagues.

*Red Zone Efficiency is based on the inverse of how well a kicker’s offense does in the red zone. For example, a team ranked 30th in red-zone efficiency receives an RZ EFF score of 2. The lower the number, the better for kickers, as playing on a team that struggles to score touchdowns in the red zone leads to more field-goal opportunities.

**The K Score combines several variables that can influence fantasy kicking success, including Vegas spread, opponent red-zone defense, offensive red-zone efficiency, overall offensive production, kicker consistency and weather. A lower K Score indicates that more of these variables are working in the kicker’s favor.

Kicker rankings are based on the K Score along with matchup analysis, projected game environment and other factors that can impact kicking opportunities. The K Score is intended as a guide rather than a definitive predictor, as game script and other unpredictable variables can significantly impact fantasy kicking performance.

Week 3 Prediction Review

Trey Smack (K – GB) vs. Atlanta: 28% Rostered on Yahoo

  • ECR Rank: K11
  • My Rank: K2
  • Week 3 Finish: T-K30

This was my first really big miss of the year, and I am still shocked that the Packers were beaten so thoroughly by the Falcons in a game in which Green Bay were 7-point home favorites. While I like Trey Smack’s talent, I would be hesitant to start him until the Packers address their offensive and offensive-line woes.

Tyler Bass (K – BUF) vs. Los Angeles Chargers: 18% Rostered on Yahoo

  • ECR Rank: K12
  • My Rank: K9
  • Week 3 Finish: T-19

Another game that did not go the way the Vegas spread predicted, with the Chargers putting up their best fight of the year in an otherwise dreadful season. Tyler Bass was not great, but did score six points on three extra points and a short field goal.

Week 4 Upside Plays

Harrison Mevis (K – LAR) @ Philadelphia: 48% Rostered on Yahoo

Harrison Mevis will look to build on his solid Week 3 performance in a road matchup against an Eagles team that just gave up 10 fantasy points to Cairo Santos. Mevis has a K Score of 28, indicating a high probability of scoring at least eight fantasy points, with a ceiling of 15.

Chris Boswell (K – PIT) @ Cleveland: 13% Rostered on Yahoo

Chris Boswell scored 13 points last week in a shootout win over the Bengals. This week’s matchup against the Browns will likely have a lower-scoring game script.

I like Boswell because the Steelers have struggled in the red zone, while the Browns’ defense has been one of the best in that area. Look for another double-digit performance for Boswell, assuming the weather isn’t too bad in Cleveland on Thursday.

Widely Available Kickers With Strong Week 3 Performances

Harrison Mevis (K – LAR) vs. Denver: 48% Rostered on Yahoo

Harrison Mevis posted his best game of the young season with 16 fantasy points against the Broncos. The Rams’ defense did a great job keeping the Denver offense in check, while the Broncos’ defense bent but didn’t break.

Mevis was my preseason breakout kicker, and I looked pretty foolish for two weeks. Look for him to continue to be a top-10 kicker when the Rams head on the road to take on the Eagles.

Chad Ryland (K – ARI) @ San Francisco: 0% Rostered on Yahoo

There is a reason why Chad Ryland is rostered in fewer than 1% of Yahoo leagues. He surprised everyone with a solid game against the Chargers in Week 1, but then came back to Earth with one point against Seattle.

I would have bet a decent amount of money that the Niners would have done a similar job against the Cardinals, but Arizona played San Francisco close, and Ryland was a top-five player this week. Crazy as it may sound, there is a decent chance he does well again this week on the road against the Giants.

Widely Rostered Kickers With Dud Week 3 Performances

Ka’imi Fairbairn (HOU) @ Indianapolis: 95% rostered on Yahoo

If you have read this article for the past few years, you know Ka’imi Fairbairn is one of my favorite kickers. He is reliable, plays half his games inside and the Texans under C.J. Stroud have stunk in the red zone while also having a defense that creates favorable game scripts.

The defense has not been as good. Fairbairn missed his one long 50-yard try, and he is not getting as many field-goal opportunities. Will it turn around? I think so, but I am starting to worry about him.
