Report: Cardinals’ Kyler Murray still not fully healthy

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray could reportedly remain on the shelf next week and potentially longer despite being eligible to return off injured reserve in Week 14 due to a foot sprain.

“My understanding is it’s a little early maybe for Kyler Murray. Thought he’d be fully healthy by now. Not quite yet,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Sunday. “Certainly seems like it’s going to be Jacoby Brissett for at least another week and potentially more.”

Murray’s 21-day practice window can be officially opened next week after missing the minimum four games on IR.

Arizona’s franchise signal caller suffered the injury in Arizona’s 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. He missed the next three games before being placed on IR following the Cardinals’ Monday Night Football win over the Dallas Cowboys.

“This pivot, I would say, is completely predicated on the information that we have now and his health,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said of the IR decision on Nov. 5. “He’s got to fully focus on getting healthy. He’s in a good spot and ready to do that.”

With Murray on the shelf, Arizona’s offense has taken a step forward under quarterback Jacoby Brissett. As a team, Arizona is seeing a jump in points (24.1) after scoring 20.6 across Murray’s five starts.

Brissett is also getting it done through the air following Arizona’s lean into more of the passing game. Through six starts, Brissett has completed 67% of his throws for 1,887 yards and 11 touchdowns to three interceptions.

That’s despite playing behind an offensive line that’s given up 24 sacks and a ton of QB hits during that span and an inefficient run game that’s been impacted by injury.

The wins, however, continue to remain far and few between, with Brissett 1-5 across six starts. Murray went down with a 2-3 mark.

But whether Murray is healthy or not, Brissett has more than earned the right to remain the starter the rest of the way.

Walter Nolen III listed by Pro Football Focus as one of top rookies through Week 12

Pro Football Focus listed Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Walter Nolen III as one of the top rookies through Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season.

PFF listed Nolen at the top of the list with a grade of 84.6. Lauren Gray said the No. 16 pick out of Ole Miss has made his presence felt on the field despite missing the first half of the season with a calf injury.

Nolen has logged a 73.5 PFF run-defense grade, powered by five tackles with three stops across 44 snaps. He’s generating a 22.7% positive play rate as a run defender. He also ranks seventh in PFF pass-rush grade (78.7) and 15th in pass-rush win rate (13.7%). He has notched a sack, a quarterback hit and a batted pass across 51 such snaps.

Since making his NFL debut against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 3, Nolen has notched eight tackles and a sack in four games played.

A notable moment of Nolen’s rookie season so far occurred last week when he recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the Cardinals’ 27-24 overtime loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He would leave the game later with a knee injury.

Nolen was ruled out for the Cardinals’ Week 13 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to the injury.

Cardinals cornerback Will Johnson makes PFF list

Nolen wasn’t the only Cardinal to make the list as cornerback Will Johnson was listed as the ninth-best rookie with a grade of 75.5.

Through six games played, Johnson has registered 19 tackles with six passes defensed and a forced fumble. He has missed the Cardinals’ last two games due to hip and back issues.

Johnson was a full participant in Cardinals practice on Friday and looks to be on track to return to the field on Sunday.

Other notable rookies to appear on the list included former Sun Devil and New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (No. 2, 80.5) and former Wildcat and Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan (No. 5, 78.8).

Kenny Dillingham praises ASU seniors for roles in changing team culture following loss vs. Arizona

Following Arizona State football’s loss to the Arizona Wildcats on Friday, head coach Kenny Dillingham took a moment to praise his senior players for their roles in changing the culture for the program over the last few seasons.

“I told our guys in the locker room this sucks and this is horrible. I have to live in this city and hear of this game just around,” Dillingham said postgame. “But I told the group, ‘You guys did something special.’ I had them all raise their hand and said, ‘You guys came here when we were dead. Absolutely nobody wanted to be here and you guys took a team and did something that hasn’t been done in 12 years: back-to-back eight win seasons.’”

ASU’s loss on Friday eliminated the Sun Devils’ chances of reaching the Big 12 Championship game for the second season in a row. The Sun Devils were plagued by senior quarterback Jeff Sims’ five turnovers in the 23-7 loss.

Despite the rough outing, Dillingham commended Sims for leading ASU to winning three of their last four games this season as a full-time starter in relief of Sam Leavitt.

“Jeff is an unbelievable human being and person and has all the ability in the world,” Dillingham said. “I feel for him tonight because he’s a great person and he’s going to be a guy that is successful in life and I can almost guarantee that.

“This dude chose to be a Sun Devil. This dude fought and had 200 something yards against Iowa State to keep us alive. This dude battled for Arizona State football and sometimes the ball doesn’t go your way, but I hope that doesn’t define him here, and what defines him here is wanting to be a Sun Devil and fighting, competing and doing whatever he can to try to win games.”

Dillingham said he was proud of his players for what they’ve done for the team over the last few years and raising the excitement and expectations for the program.

“The last two years have been unbelievable and it’s only the beginning,” Dillingham said. “That’s the best part is when you sell out crowds and you start to get excitement. Not everything goes your way but we were way higher than we were (a few years ago), and we are going to continue to build.”

Dillingham added he was grateful for the atmosphere that was at Mountain America Stadium on Friday, and he is confident in the direction the program is heading in.

“We’re in the right direction. One moment does not define the football team,” Dillingham said. “It defines being able to talk (expletive) for a year, which that sucks because we can’t, but it does not define the excitement that was in that stadium and does not define our players.”

Chamon Metayer praises ASU’s competitiveness despite injuries

Senior tight end Chamon Metayer commended ASU’s efforts to stay competitive throughout 2025 despite injuries to key players the team was dealing with before and during the game on Friday.

Metayer praised players such as Sims, offensive lineman Maki Stewart, defensive back Kyan McDonald and wide receiver Malik McClain for stepping in when called upon.

“We going to war with guys that don’t have the experience and we know they’re fighters and we got each other’s backs,” Metayer said.

Arizona Cardinals release outside linebacker Xavier Thomas

The Arizona Cardinals have released outside linebacker Xavier Thomas, the team announced on Friday.

Thomas has largely been a healthy scratch for the Cardinals this season but has appeared in four games this season with no defensive statistics registered.

Following the news, Thomas posted on X, thanking the fans for his time in Arizona.

Since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Thomas has appeared in 18 games across two seasons, registering 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Garrett Williams optimistic about Cardinals’ defensive play despite 3-8 record

Despite the Arizona Cardinals’ 3-8 record, cornerback Garrett Williams says he is optimistic about the team turning it around and finishing the season strong.

“We’re close. We really are close and it’s just those few details that if we can just continue to harp on and those little things not just in the game, but throughout the week as it leads into the game, eventually things are going to turn and go in our favor,” Williams said on Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke on Wednesday.

“We just got to stay faithful in that and keep trusting all the work we are putting in.”

Williams suffered a setback to start his 2025 campaign when he sustained a knee injury during the Cardinals’ Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. The injury caused him to miss the next five games.

Since his return in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys, Williams has registered 14 total tackles, four passes defensed and an interception.

Williams stressed the importance of him continuing to improve and admitted that he feels like he hasn’t played his best football this season.

“There’s definitely more steps I can take to keep getting better. I feel like I haven’t played my best ball this season and that’s what I promise upfront is to be the best player I can be to the team to help us get more wins,” Williams said.

“I want to be out there every game and also when I’m out there I want to keep playing cleaner and cleaner and I feel like each game I’m improving step-by-step. It’s a process but I feel good about where I’m headed.”

Garrett Williams compliments defense’s ability to create turnovers

Despite the Cardinals losing eight of their past nine games, Williams said the defense has done a good job forcing turnovers and feels like they are headed in the right direction.

“I feel like as we keep doing that, eventually that’s gonna turn into wins,” Williams said. “It’s an important part of the game so I feel confident in that helping us build.”

Since his return, the Cardinals have forced 10 turnovers in four games, including four in Arizona’s 27-24 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

The one area Williams feels the defense needs to improve on is communication and stresses the importance of continuing to work on that.

“I feel like as a defense the only time that we usually start having bad drives is when we’re not communicating,” Williams said. “I feel like whenever we did that at a high level, everything is smooth so we got to just keep harping at that.”

Cam Skattebo picked as honorary captain for Territorial Cup

Arizona State football great Cam Skattebo will make his return to Tempe as an honorary captain in the Territorial Cup on Friday, the team announced Wednesday.

Skattebo’s appearance on Friday will mark his first game in attendance as an ASU alum.

In two seasons with the Sun Devils, Skattebo rushed for 2,494 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns. As a senior last season, he was a focal point of a Sun Devils team that won the Big 12 championship and reached the quarterfinals of the College Football playoff.

ASU football comes together to donate, distribute more than 500 turkeys for St. Mary’s Food Bank

Arizona State safety Xavion Alford was looking for a way to give back to the communities closest to him this Thanksgiving, and he had the idea to donate turkeys.

Former ASU running back D.J. Foster — a Scottsdale native who’s now a player development manager — was already teaming up with the St. Mary’s Food Bank, so the two plans became one.

What started as small donations became $13,550 in total, equating to 543 turkeys that players helped distribute in a drive thru-style pickup on Monday.

Alford’s original idea was to give out 50 turkeys in Tempe and 50 back home near Houston, so the team effort was well beyond what he initially hoped to accomplish.

“Definitely a blessing to be able to do … with obviously my teammates as well.” Alford told Arizona Sports. “This place has done a lot for me in the three years I’ve been here, so it definitely wouldn’t hurt to give back to the community that’s embraced me since I got here just through everything, my career, my story, my injuries, things like that.

“What other way to show that than to give back, especially on a holiday like Thanksgiving?”

He said a link was set up where players could donate, and ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham made his own sizable contribution.

When it came time to distribute, ASU football had its own station where cars would roll through with signs indicating how many of which items were needed. Those ranged from turkeys to bags of potatoes to canned goods and more.

When fans who recognized the players dropped by, Alford said the most common thing they heard was “beat U of A” ahead of the Territorial Cup on Friday.

Dillingham said the players’ part in the turkey distribution fell right in line with his stated goal for the program of being good people first and foremost.

“It’s awesome that those guys wanted to raise money for the organization and then not only raise money … go physically do the act of passing out the turkeys to everybody,” the coach said. “Winning and losing games is great, but I think these guys becoming good people and growing up as people has always been a priority for me.”

Prior to his arrival ahead of the 2023 season — which he was forced to sit out due to now-outdated transfer rules — Alford had never set foot in the state of Arizona. He was in the transfer portal for a second time and searching for a place he could call a second home to Texas.

He believes he’s found that in the Valley after the support he felt in the year he sat out as well as missing most of this season due to an undisclosed injury.

“I didn’t know what to expect but once I got here on that visit, I never left,” Alford said. “To be able to go to the playoffs and play in the Peach Bowl, (win) the Big 12 championship in the first year in the conference and do something that the university hasn’t done in a while to give people around here hope and something to cheer about.

“And then all the way until now even though it didn’t go as planned, just seeing all the support from everybody online … it’s obviously something that will carry on for years and years and years until I’m gone, and it’s definitely a place I can see myself settling in.”

It’s why he felt the need to give back.

While the timing didn’t work out to allow for a turkey drive in Houston, Alford said he plans to make up for it with a toy drive around Christmas with the goal of giving away 100 items.

Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll continues to look for advantages

PHOENIX — Like the fans, Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll is in tune with what’s going on in Major League Baseball as the stove warms during the offseason.

He’s looking out for more than roster moves, however.

Carroll told the Ain’t No Fang podcast on Friday that keeping track of pitching trends and finding ways to more effectively monitor his own data could give him better footing when the season comes back around in the spring.

“Just kind of keep learning about what guys are doing to try and get better,” Carroll said. “Then also too what’s going on out there in the pitching world and what’s kind of the hot topic of the moment. … Just learning a little bit more about what they’re trying to do I think is helpful.”

It is the latest example of Carroll searching for an edge, beyond his athletic gifts. Being the fastest player on the field and having the ability to crush a ball 110 mph off the bat are the tools of a superstar, but so is the preparation that occurs both in June and well into the offseason.

Carroll is a regular at Salt River Fields during the offseason, going through his training with a power and speed phase coming up.

“ Trying to get real explosive,” he said.

Aside from the physical work, Carroll is looking deeper into biomechanics to improve operations going forward, attempting to find answers with his swing from pitch-to-pitch.

“I’m trying to get some systems in place to monitor my in-game data with my hitting and be able to tell if anything is trending in a way that I don’t want,” Carroll said. “That’s hoping, I guess, to bring some more consistency on the hitting side.”

Carroll told the Baseball is Dead podcast that he found some keys last offseason of not pushing onto the ball of his foot too early and not losing his hip flexion too early, which ended up helping him moving forward.

Carroll has gone through the ups and downs of figuring out how to maintain success in MLB, from struggling after swing adjustments in 2024 to finding what works toward the back end of that campaign.

He was in a great spot this past season at 24 years old, not only with his counting stats (31 home runs and 32 steals) but also with his contact data.

He finished top 23 in MLB in exit velocity, barrel rate, hard hit percentage and bat speed, blowing away his career highs in each metric. He swung-and-missed and struck out more as a byproduct, so finding ways to limit the lulls is part of his offseason adjustment.

Zac Gallen maintains interest in returning to Diamondbacks

(Mark Peterman/AP Content Services for Rockin’ Protein)

Free agent Zac Gallen spent his Friday evening pitching wiffle balls to kids at the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley, saying the Phoenix community has meant a lot to him over the years.

In a media scrum at the event, Gallen maintained the sentiment he shared after the 2025 season ended, that he would “love to be here for the rest of my career,” but that he is going through the process.

“I think what sometimes gets lost in translation is that it’s not necessarily always up to the player,” Gallen said. “If the opportunity is there and it’s something that we deem is the right fit for us, myself as a player and me and my soon-to-be wife as a family, then yeah, we’ll explore that.”

Gallen admitted that he’s been pretty hands off to this point, saying more of his attention has been taken by his upcoming wedding.

Scott Boras is his agent, and the two have been in contract about which teams have checked in. He hasn’t expected anything to move too quickly, aside from what he called a formality of declining the qualifying offer from Arizona.

“I enjoy playing on a good team, good culture, obviously a good place to pitch is nice, those sort of things,” Gallen said. “We have some other things we’ve kept to ourselves, personally, that are big for us.”

Jordyn Tyson, Deion Sanders make amends after ASU-Colorado game

After handily defeating Colorado on Saturday 42-17, one would expect Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson to simply celebrate the win with his teammates in his first game back after missing three due to a hamstring injury.

That wasn’t the case, as Tyson took a detour to the Buffaloes locker room to apologize to coach Deion Sanders more than two years after transferring away from Colorado, which happened about five months after Sanders was hired.

Sanders said postgame that Tyson has no reason to say sorry, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t want his undeniable talent at CU.

“You don’t have to apologize to me, you’re young. I was making the same mistakes when I was your age,” Sanders said. “I’m just thankful that you got on the right course. He’s trying his best to walk with the Lord.

“Isn’t this what it’s all about? That moment. Even though we get our butts kicked, I’m sitting there going through the game in my head, and he walks in full uniform and says (I’m sorry).”

Tyson played in nine games as a true freshman for Colorado during the 2022 season, where his 21.4 yards per catch was fourth in FBS, but didn’t stick around when Sanders set the college world on fire the next year.

He has since only skyrocketed in the annals of college football as many NFL Draft experts’ top receiver should Tyson enter the 2026 proceedings.

Sanders said Tyson left Boulder because of “several different things,” and hopes that the wide out is a “top five pick, top 10 pick” because he’s got “it.”

The coach added that he hopes his own locker room can learn from Tyson’s posture and maturity.

“That moment, that’s (why) all us coaches coach for,” Sanders said.

The top ASU passing target had a quiet game on Saturday for his lofty standards, coming down with two catches for 61 yards. Tyson’s pair of receptions was his fewest this season by four, as he hauled in six in back-to-back games against Mississippi State and Texas State early on.

He was listed as “probable” for the Territorial Cup on Black Friday after being around 95% healthy in his first action back from injury.

ASU coach Kenny Dillingham told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on Wednesday morning that he is “fired up” to see Tyson play against Arizona if he suits up, as his growth as a player and human has surpassed “what I could have ever imagined.”

In his lone Territorial Cup appearance that was cut short last season due to a collarbone injury, Tyson had eight receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown.

Mercury’s Kahleah Copper set to participate in USA Basketball’s training camp, Nate Tibbets to coach

Phoenix Mercury guard-forward Kahleah Copper was one of 18 players announced on Monday to participate at the USA Basketball Women’s National Team’s training camp. Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts will serve as a court coach.

Training camp will take place from Dec. 12-14 at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where national team head coach Kara Lawson coaches.

The next national competition will be the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup taking place Sept. 4-13 in Berlin. Managing director Sue Bird will be evaluating players for that team during training camp as the U.S. will look to win its fifth consecutive World Cup gold medal.

Copper has represented the United States on the global stage twice before. Her national debut came during the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney. She averaged 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists before missing the final two games with a left hip injury.

Most recently, Copper played in the 2024 Paris Olympics, averaging 8.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.6 minutes.

Copper played a critical role in the gold medal match against France, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter to help the U.S. to a narrow 67-66 victory over the host nation.

The women’s national team has taken home six consecutive gold medals and has not lost an Olympic game since 1992.

This will be the first time Tibbetts will coach at the women’s national level. His only prior USA coaching experience was in 2011, when he was the head coach of the USA Basketball Men’s Pan American Games team that finished in third place.

Fantasy Football Studs & Duds: Week 12 (2025)

Fantasy Football Studs & Duds: Week 12 (2025)

Happy Turkey Week! I sincerely hope that everyone who takes a moment to read my weekly columns has a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday, surrounded by their friends and family. I seemingly say it each year, but it feels like I just blinked and the past 11 months have flown by. Selfishly, I was hoping that feeling would slow down with age, but it seems to have spun in the opposite direction instead.

FantasyPros Fantasy Football My Playbook

Week 11 kicked off with Houston flat-out embarrassing Buffalo on Thursday Night Football, generating eight sacks on Josh Allen and pummeling him at every opportunity. The surging Texans now suddenly have a shot to overtake Indianapolis in the AFC South, led by backup quarterback Davis Mills, who has led them to three consecutive victories.

Chicago continues to find a way to scrape out last-second victories, improving to 8-3 on the year after defeating a Pittsburgh Steelers team without Aaron Rodgers at Soldier Field. I don’t think that the Bears are nearly as good as their record suggests, but I will tip my cap to a team that finds a way to pull out victories at the end of games (rather than blowing them each week, like my New York Giants).

Dallas pulled off an improbable come-from-behind victory against Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, erasing a 21-point deficit en route to a 24-21 win. Though they were embarrassed early and appeared to be the same old Cowboys defense that allows opponents to walk all over them, they managed to right the ship and tighten up, forcing multiple turnovers in a clutch win over the defending Super Bowl champions.

Several players continued to perform at a high level (a special nod to Matthew Stafford, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jaxon Smith-Njigba on that front) while others continued to flounder (Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson and Breece Hall). Hopefully, your players managed to pull through and carry your team to victory, as we enter the final few weeks of the fantasy football regular season.

Fantasy Football Studs & Duds: Week 12

Quarterback

Stud: Jameis Winston (QB – NYG)

It pains me to write about Jameis Winston, since his heroic effort came amidst yet another fourth-quarter collapse by Big Blue. Thankfully, the team opted to fire defensive coordinator Shane Bowen this morning, although that move came two months too late. But I digress.

Winston finished the afternoon completing 18-of-36 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns, catching another touchdown from wideout Gunner Olszewski in the fourth quarter on a magnificent play where he broke out of a tackle. Rookie Jaxson Dart is expected to return from concussion protocol for Week 13 against New England, but it was still encouraging to see Winston perform well behind a Giants offensive line that held Detroit in check all day long.

Stud: Jalen Hurts (QB – PHI)

Coming off consecutive quiet outings after Philadelphia’s bye in Week 9, I had tempered my expectations for what the Eagles’ offense could do, even though they were playing against a beleaguered Dallas secondary. Thankfully for Jalen Hurts’ managers, the Eagles came out throwing the ball all over the field, and they actually set a season-high with 39 pass attempts on the afternoon. Hurts passed for 289 yards and a touchdown on the afternoon, rushing for 33 yards on seven carries, with two tush push touchdowns at the goal line.

It was encouraging to see Hurts feel comfortable scrambling again, as he has primarily been a non-factor running the ball since Week 4 against Tampa Bay. Philadelphia squares off against the upstart Chicago Bears at home during Week 13 and will need to pull out a victory to ensure a high playoff seed in a few weeks. Expect this team to continue finding its footing.

Dud: Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)

The silver lining for Baltimore is that they were able to win their contest against the New York Jets 23-10 (marking their fifth consecutive victory), and they now sit atop the AFC North division. That said, Lamar Jackson did little to help carry his team, and he seems off after his month-long absence with a hamstring injury. The Ravens have been intentionally taking things slow with Jackson, limiting his practice reps and not asking him to run much on designed scrambles during games.

This kid-glove treatment has allowed him to stay healthy (for now), but has severely sapped his fantasy upside. Jackson has rushed for more than 50 yards just once this season, and that came in Week 1 (he hasn’t eclipsed 36 yards since Week 4). He has two get-right games coming up against Cincinnati, where he will be asked to pick up the pace dramatically.

Dud: Josh Allen (QB – BUF)

As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, Buffalo fell flat yet again on the road, looking entirely out of sorts in a 23-19 loss against Houston. The Texans’ defensive front consistently pressured Allen all afternoon, and the Bills’ lack of a true alpha receiving option is becoming more noticeable each week. Allen has begun to revert to a hero mode style of play, forcing passes into tight windows, with Buffalo becoming increasingly reliant upon him to carry the offense to victory single-handedly.

Allen has thrown four interceptions over the past two weeks and will face another strong front-four against Pittsburgh in Week 13 on the road. Buffalo is now 7-4 and several games behind New England in the AFC East, so they will need to string together some victories to retain position in the Wild Card standings.

Running Back

Stud: Jahmyr Gibbs (RB – DET)

Any running back needing a get-right game hopes to square off against the New York Giants, who have surrendered nearly 2,000 rushing yards through the first 12 weeks of the season, by far the most in the NFL. Jahmyr Gibbs went nuclear on Sunday, rushing for 219 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries, and catching a career-high 11 passes on 12 targets for 45 yards and a score as a receiving threat.

Woefully inept tackling was primarily to blame for several extended plays, but I’m perfectly fine tipping my cap where it is due — Gibbs was fantastic. After Sunday’s explosion, Gibbs is second in the league with 10 rushing touchdowns and ranks third with 951 rushing yards. His dual-threat ability is unparalleled, and the scary thing is that he is just getting started.

Stud: Emanuel Wilson (RB – GB)

Josh Jacobs who? This week’s top waiver wire addition in most leagues, Emanuel Wilson, rewarded managers who added him with a phenomenal effort, rushing for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, adding another two receptions for 18 yards through the air.

Even though this was a one-week performance and he will be back to “handcuff with upside” territory as of Week 13, it was still encouraging to see his success. Jacobs was pleading with the team to let him start on Sunday, and he will surely be healed enough for the crucial road game on Thanksgiving against Detroit. Wilson remains a stash candidate for managers who happen to have an extra bench slot available.

Dud: Jonathan Taylor (RB – IND)

It was expected that Jonathan Taylor would run into stiff competition in Week 12, traveling to Kansas City in a must-win game for the Chiefs. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo made it a point to bottle up and contain Taylor at every possible juncture, holding him to just 58 rushing yards on 16 carries.

This was just the third time since Week 3 that Taylor didn’t score a rushing touchdown. Though Indianapolis has enough receiving weapons to carry them through most contests (especially with Alec Pierce and Josh Downs’ performances of late), the team functions much more smoothly with Daniel Jones when they can work off of play-action passing instead. The Colts have another tough contest in Week 13 against Houston, as the Texans rank fifth in the NFL in rushing defense.

Dud: D’Andre Swift (RB – CHI)

D’Andre Swift rushed for a season-low eight carries and just 15 yards against Pittsburgh on Sunday, losing a fumble in the process and being a complete non-factor. More importantly, rookie backfield running mate Kyle Monangai finished with four more carries and was much more successful when provided the opportunity, finding the end zone for the third consecutive game.

At this point, it appears to be a clear changing of the guard in Chicago, with Monangai earning double-digit carries for the third time in the past four games. For the Bears to maximize the strengths of both players, Monangai should continue to see the majority of short-yardage and goal-line touches, with Swift operating as the change-of-pace and receiving back. Swift’s days of being a low-end RB1 option for fantasy are likely over, with this being a full-blown committee situation moving forward.

FantasyPros Are They Playing Tool

Wide Receiver

Stud: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR – SEA)

The scary thing about Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s insane production this season? Defensive coordinators know that he represents the bulk of Seattle’s passing game. They have double- and triple-covered him the majority of the year, and he’s still producing at an elite level. On the heels of an 8/167/2 performance against Tennessee on the road, Smith-Njigba is now up to 80 receptions for 1,313 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

To put that into context, the next closest option at the position in terms of yards is George Pickens with 1,054, and third is Puka Nacua with 947. Smith-Njigba is an unstoppable force at the moment who has a real shot of setting NFL records this year. Just sit back and enjoy history.

Stud: Wan’Dale Robinson (WR – NYG)

The primary beneficiary of the Giants’ decision to switch to veteran Jameis Winston over Russell Wilson has been Wan’Dale Robinson, who currently sits as the WR8 on the season so far. On Sunday, Robinson caught nine of his 14 targets for 156 yards and a touchdown, on a play where he blew past the Lions’ secondary during the opening series.

Robinson has drawn 45 targets over the past four games, and with Malik Nabers out for the remainder of the year with his ACL tear, Robinson is Big Blue’s top chain-moving threat at receiver. With Jaxson Dart expected to return in Week 13 against New England, the Giants will likely revert to a more balanced approach on offense, but Robinson still warrants low-end WR2 upside on a team that surrenders points in droves, and will need to pass to remain competitive.

Dud: Emeka Egbuka (WR – TB)

For as fantastic as Emeka Egbuka was during the first five weeks of the regular season, things have come to a screeching halt in short order. Since Week 6, he has eclipsed double-digits in a full PPR format just once, and things appear to be grim for the short term, with quarterback Baker Mayfield dealing with a shoulder injury.

The lone positive is that his target volume remains strong and he is unquestionably the top receiving threat for Tampa Bay, but the lack of a running game, an excess of defensive attention and the possibility of backup Teddy Bridgewater under center for the short term have me worried. The Buccaneers have two fantastic matchups against Arizona and New Orleans on the horizon.

I’m hopeful that even if Bridgewater is under center, Egbuka can find the end zone a time or two during that span to propel his managers into the fantasy playoffs.

Dud: Stefon Diggs (WR – NE)

New England scored 26 points and quarterback Drake Maye threw for nearly 300 passing yards on Sunday against Cincinnati, so clearly Stefon Diggs must have had a strong outing, right? Not so much. Maye concentrated on peppering tight ends Hunter Henry (7/115/1) and Austin Hooper (3/39) all afternoon, to the detriment of Patriots wide receivers. Diggs finished with just two receptions for 20 yards on three targets, tying him for a season low.

The good news? New England is at home against a beleaguered New York Giants secondary in Week 13, a unit that gives up yards in droves to No. 1 WRs. The Giants rank dead last in yards allowed (4.62) and are the third-worst in points per game allowed, with nearly 28. Diggs might have disappointed his managers last week, but he’s primed for a bounce-back.

Tight End

Stud: Hunter Henry (TE – NE)

How awful has the tight end position been in 2025? Consider this. Before Sunday, Hunter Henry had scored nine points or fewer in seven consecutive weeks, with just one touchdown reception during that span. After Week 12’s effort, he is still the TE5 overall on the season. Yeesh. As mentioned in the Diggs blurb above, Henry broke out for a 7/115/1 afternoon on 10 targets, the most looks he has seen since Week 3.

How much are we buying into this breakout? Only a little. Cincinnati has been historically awful in guarding tight ends this year, and quarterback Drake Maye seems more comfortable pushing the ball downfield on the perimeter instead, when possible. Henry has the opportunity for another strong game against New York in Week 13, before the Patriots go on hiatus with their bye the following Sunday.

Dud: Dallas Goedert (TE – PHI)

Curiously, Dallas Goedert would be such an afterthought in a game when Philadelphia attempted a season-high in pass attempts, but I digress. With wideout A.J. Brown being vocally hostile about his displeasure with the way Philadelphia currently runs the offense, targets have been increasingly funneled towards the receivers, with himself and DeVonta Smith being the main beneficiaries.

Goedert saw a season-low two targets on Sunday afternoon, despite the Eagles trying to reinforce their lead in the second half and Dallas making a desperate comeback. I’d argue that it would be worth pivoting towards an alternative option instead at this point, but outside of George Kittle, Trey McBride, Brock Bowers and Tyler Warren, who can managers rely on at this point? Goedert will remain a boom-or-bust option that is maddeningly inconsistent.
