ASU’s Jalen Moss leaps into oversized bowl of Frosted Flakes after 44-yard touchdown catch

Jalen Moss celebrated the first touchdown of his Arizona State career by jumping into the inflatable Frosted Flakes bowl on the sideline during Wednesday’s Sun Bowl against Duke.

Moss fended off coverage to haul in the catch before running in the 44-yard score, his first touchdown in a Sun Devil uniform after coming up empty across eight regular-season games.

Moss immediately looked for the bowl as soon as he crossed the goal line, so he understood his assignment. He leapt in like he was Marshawn Lynch with fellow receivers Derek Eusebio and Malik McClain joining him in the bowl shortly after.

As the Sparky mascot was getting out of the bowl — branded with the game’s presenting sponsor — defensive lineman Justin Wodtly made it one more Sun Devil in the bowl, in a sense tackling Sparky back in.

Moss, who appeared to get away with a push-off on the catch, finished the regular season with 11 catches for 144 yards across eight games. The start of his season was spoiled by a foot injury and a sickness, delaying his debut catch with the team until Oct. 11 at Utah.

His touchdown on Wednesday tied the game at 14 and brought him to two catches for 95 yards on the day, as he caught a 51-yard bomb on the opening drive that set up a Jeff Sims rushing score.

After Sims rushed in his second score to make it a 21-21 game, Moss continued to understand the assignment by alerting the signal-caller to a photo opp in a massive Frosted Flakes box.
