Jacory Croskey-Merritt gave the Washington Commanders a much-needed boost with a 72-yard house call on the first play of a second-half drive Christmas Day.
With the score, the one-time Arizona Wildcats running back brought the Commanders within one score after trailing the Dallas Cowboys 24-10 at halftime.

The 21.62 mph he reached on the play was the fastest speed he’s reached since joining the NFL this season, according to Next Gen Stats.
He gave Washington its only previous touchdown in the game, shaking off defenders to punch one in from 10 yards out during the second quarter.

That score gave him seven rushing touchdowns on the year, more than any other seventh-round rookie in the last 30 years.
Minutes later, Croskey-Merritt, affectionately referred to as “Bill,” scored his eighth.
It also gave him three straight games with a touchdown after an eight-game end-zone drought. He had four touchdowns in his first five weeks.
His eight touchdowns on the year are the most by any rookie this season, beating out Jaxson Dart, RJ Harvey, TreVeyon Henderson and Quinsshon Judkins, who each have seven.
The No. 245 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Croskey-Merritt had 106 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in his only appearance as a Wildcat before sitting out the rest of the year due to an eligibility issue.
