Arizona Cardinals rookie safety Kitan Crawford went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
He’s officially questionable to return.
Crawford walked off the field under his own power but was eventually carted off due to the issue.
Arizona’s safeties room was already thin before Crawford’s exit with Budda Baker out with a concussion and thumb issue.
With Baker out, Rabbit Taylor-Demerson slid into a starting role alongside Jalen Thompson. Crawford served as the next man up in the rotation before doing down.
Darren Hall will likely see more run in the backend of the secondary with Crawford sidelined.
The Cardinals will need all they can get from their defenders the rest of the way after allowing scoring drives on four of the Bengals’ first five possessions. Three of those scores were touchdowns.
Despite the early scores, Arizona has gotten after quarterback Joe Burrow behind three sacks and four QB hits.
Rookie linebacker Cody Simon has been a huge bright spot for Arizona with nine tackles, a sack and QB hit.
