He joined Kansas’ Emmanuel Henderson Jr., who had two kick returns for 137 yards in a Big 12 home opener against West Virginia, featuring one for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Not only did Gomez, the senior Eastern Michigan transfer, enjoy the difference-maker in a 27-24 victory to kick off Big 12 play, but he also made a career-high four field goals (4-for-4).
Through four games, Gomez is 9-for-10 on field goals, with his only miss being a 57-yard attempt in Week 1 against Northern Arizona. He’s a perfect 12-for-12 on extra points and is 3-for-4 from 40 yards and longer (51 yards at Mississippi State his longest).
Gomez has made a world of difference for the Sun Devils after coach Kenny Dillingham held open tryouts for kicker last October. ASU kicking was 11-for-20 in 2024.
