Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Early Week 5 Adds (2026)

Week 5 Early Waiver Additions (2026 Fantasy Football)

Welcome back to another edition of Early Waiver Wire Targets! I’ll be walking you through a few players you should be thinking about prior to waivers opening on Tuesday. Everyone on this list will have played in Sunday’s Week 4 early afternoon slate, or earlier and is rostered in fewer than 40% of leagues. Let’s dive in.

Fantasy Football Early Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 5

Running Backs

Tank Bigsby (RB – PHI) (15.6% rostered)
Will Shipley (RB – PHI) (0.6% rostered)

I’m looking at both Philadelphia backups, given Saquon Barkley left early Sunday and won’t return. Bigsby had 14 carries for 55 yards today; Shipley had six for 23. Bigsby will likely receive more work on the ground. However, Bigsby also left the game with an injury, and it’s unclear how serious that injury is. That points toward Shipley. Shipley, over the course of his career, has been used a bit more in passing situations, which means receptions could be coming his way.

Given Bigsby’s injury, I prefer Shipley. However, if news comes out before Tuesday that Bigsby’s injury isn’t serious and he’ll be playing next weekend, I prefer Bigsby.

Tyler Allgeier (RB – ARI) (28.2% rostered)

Allgeier totaled 10 touches, 49 yards, and a touchdown in Sunday’s 24-26 loss to the Giants. At this point, he is the secondary option in the Cardinals’ backfield to Jeremiyah Love. However, it’s clear that Allgeier is still part of the game plan. He has 10 receptions in four games. The Cardinals’ Head Coach Mike LaFleur said after the game that Allgeier is the preferred option on obvious passing downs, such as in the two-minute drill. If you’re in dire straits at running back, Allgeier could be slotted into your lineup in the hopes that he finds the end zone or breaks a big reception or two.

Chris Rodriguez (RB – JAC) (17.3% rostered)

This is mostly for Bhayshul Tuten managers. If Rodriguez is on your waiver wire, add him. He’s a solid insurance policy should Tuten ever miss time. Rodriguez is only averaging 5.7 points per game, so I would not start him unless Tuten gets banged up.

FP Start/Sit Assistant

Wide Receivers

Antonio Williams (WR – WAS) (6.7% rostered)

Williams led the Commanders with 8 targets Sunday morning in the absence of Terry McLaurin. He also had an 80+-yard touchdown that was called back by a penalty. Williams was a third-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, which felt like a bargain given his pre-draft hype. Of course, McLaurin will command targets when he is on the field, but Williams plays a different role than McLaurin. Williams can thrive on screens, short routes, and after the catch/in space if McLaurin assumes his role as an outside receiver.

With a healthy McLaurin, Williams is a tougher start. However, should McLaurin miss another game, I’m more than happy with the rookie in my lineup.

Keon Coleman (WR – BUF) (4.2% rostered)

Coleman was featured heavily after DJ Moore left the game with an injury. Coleman caught six of seven targets for 116 yards and a touchdown. Two weeks ago, Coleman caught six passes for 63 yards. He’s volatile, as he only caught one pass in weeks one and three, but Coleman is cautiously startable when DJ Moore isn’t playing.

Roman Wilson (WR – PIT) (3.6% rostered)

Wilson has notched exactly six targets in all four games this season. In his last two games, he has 134 yards and two touchdowns. I am not prioritizing a Wilson add, as the Steelers still have plenty of mouths to feed. They’re also far from expected to be a prolific offense. However, you can’t deny Wilson’s solid enough production. If you are in desperate need of a receiver, Wilson is a candidate.

Quarterback

C.J. Stroud (QB – HOU) (37.3% rostered)

Nico Collins returned Sunday, and Stroud notched a season-high 23 fantasy points. Through four games, Stroud is averaging more than 285 passing and 16 rushing yards per game. His next three games are against the Titans, Jaguars, and Giants. Assuming there is no crazy weather and Nico Collins is active, I am confidently starting Stroud in all formats.

Tight End

Mike Gesicki (TE – CIN) (9.6% rostered)

The Bengals receivers are hurting. Ja’Marr Chase left today’s game and didn’t return. Tee Higgins had a great day but also left with an injury and didn’t return. Colbie Young was inactive. Andrei Iosivas is on the IR. Barring miraculous returns to health for most of the receivers, Gesicki is startable at TE in most formats as his four-game point totals have been: 16.3, 0, 11.2, 11.5.

Defense/Special Teams

Dallas Cowboys D/ST (6.4%)

The Cowboys host the Buccaneers on Thursday night and are 9.5-point favorites. The Cowboys defense is far from elite this year, but I am a tried-and-true defense streamer, and the Cowboys host undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels.
