The Arizona Cardinals are bringing on DJ Gillins to their coaching staff on Thursday through the 2025 Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship program, the team announced Thursday.
It is not yet known what role he will have on head coach Jonathan Gannon’s staff, though it could have something to do with the offense having served as Stony Brook’s running backs coach in 2024 and Long Island’s wide receivers coach from 2022-23.
He also had stops at Utah (2020-21), Arkansas (2019-20) and Utah State (2019) as a graduate assistant where he worked with wideouts.
Gillins marks the seventh member of the coaching fellowship, following Levon Kirkland (2015-16), Terry Allen (2017-18), Don Shumpert (2019), Jordan Hogan (2020-21), Connor Senger (2022) and Blaine Gautier (2024).
Senger and Gautier have since been promoted within Arizona’s coaching staff. Senger spent time as Arizona’s offensive quality control coach in 2024 and now takes over as pass game specialist after Spencer Whipple’s departure to Jacksonville.
Gautier was elevated to offensive quality control in place of Senger.
In addition to his Bill Bidwill Fellowship, Gillins also served as Arizona’s Bill Walsh Coaching Fellow in 2024.
What is the Cardinals’ Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship?
The coaching fellowship was established in 2015 and is “designed to increase diversity and create additional opportunities to gain coaching experience at the highest level.”
