The remnants of Hurricane Priscilla will be monitored by the Big 12 with the Arizona Wildcats hosting the No. 18 BYU Cougars in Tucson on Saturday, according to the Arizona Daily Star’s Justin Spears.
Wet weather is expected, but the potential for thunderstorms and flooding could increase as Saturday goes on, according to the National Weather Service. Parts of southern Arizona are expected to receive from 1-3 inches of rain, though the extremes are predicted to occur closer to the United States-Mexico border.
Extreme conditions, or lightning, threaten to alter the 5 p.m. MST kickoff time between the 5-0 Cougars and 4-1 Wildcats.
Rain chances ramp up this weekend. Shown below are probabilities for at least 1 and 3 inches of rain. Some locations may see more than 3 inches. Dry washes, low lying areas, & urban locations may see flooding. Never drive through flooded roads. Turn around don't drown! #azwx pic.twitter.com/IIRHCbIK2A

Last season, the Big 12 moved up the kickoff time for Arizona State’s visit to Oklahoma State by 3.5 hours due to the projected forecast.
Nonetheless, lightning caused a nearly three-hour delay at halftime of the game.
Arizona Fall League visit to Tucson canceled due to rain
The Arizona Fall League, an MLB offseason league hosting some of baseball’s top prospects, decided on Thursday to cancel a triple-header at Tucson’s Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium this Saturday due to the incoming weather.
“While we are disappointed in the decision to cancel this event, the safety of our players, staff and fans is our utmost priority at this time,” AFL director Chuck Fox said in a press release. “We hope to continue to foster a positive relationship with those in Tucson and at Kino Sports Complex in the future.”
Wildcats head coach Brent Brennan says bring on the rainy weather
Arizona State, which will play a bit further north against the Utah Utes in Salt Lake City on Saturday, has been preparing in practices this week by wetting its practice footballs.

Arizona head coach Brent Brennan said he expects his team to execute like any other game if it’s rainy in Tucson.
“The Wildcats are like the mailman. We gotta go work — rain, sleet and snow. We got to show up and get after it,” Brennan said Thursday.

“I think the biggest thing about playing in weather is not let weather be a factor. To me, it’s about a mentality, it’s about your process, it’s about how you go into the game thinking about it,” Brennan added. “(Coaching at Oregon State from 2011-16), it really didn’t change the way we played. We still threw the ball. We threw it all over the yard … football is football. Nothing stops football, nothing stops gameday, except for lightning.”
