Phoenix Suns exercise Ryan Dunn’s 3rd-year option

The Phoenix Suns exercised forward Ryan Dunn’s third-year option for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.

The 23-year-old is set to make $2.66 million this year and $2.78 million next year with a club option for $5.02 million in 2027-28, followed by restricted free agency.

Dunn was the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft, and he played 74 games with 44 starts as a rookie last season. Defense was his calling card in college at Virginia, and that translated into a promising rookie year as he matched up against some of the tougher assignments in the NBA.

On offense, the 6-foot-6 forward averaged 6.9 points in 19.1 minutes per contest while shooting 43% from the floor and 31.1% from deep.

He shot 34.2% from beyond the arc over his final 14 games and has made some adjustments to improve his jumper this offseason

“Coming back in at night and shooting a lot, it’s not just corner 3s, but above the breaks, all that stuff just to get multiple shots that I probably get,” Dunn told reporters at media day.

“It’s been great. Just feeling that out, getting the reps in, trying to be consistent in my form. It’s different in a game setting, which is obviously something we need, but just trusting the work that I’ve been putting in this summer is gonna be a big thing for me.”

The Suns open preseason play on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs before they head to China for two exhibition games against the Brooklyn Nets in Macao.
